The Discount Calculator tells you the final price after a discount and exactly how much you save. Enter the original price and the discount percentage and it instantly shows your savings and the sale price. You can also add GST or tax to see the amount you actually pay at the counter.
A second calculator works the other way around: enter the original price and the sale price and it tells you what discount percentage you are getting — handy for checking whether a “50% off” claim is really 50%. Everything runs in your browser.
How to calculate a discount
- Enter the original price and the discount percentage.
- Optionally add a GST or tax percentage to include it in the final price.
- Read your savings and the final price instantly.
- To check a deal, use the second calculator: enter the original and sale price to see the discount percentage.
How discounts are calculated
- Savings = original price × discount% ÷ 100.
- Sale price = original price − savings.
- Discount% (from prices) = (original − sale) ÷ original × 100.
- With GST: tax is added to the discounted price to get the final amount payable.
Example
A jacket priced at ₹2,000 with a 25% discount saves you ₹500, so the sale price is ₹1,500. If 5% GST applies, ₹75 is added, making the final price ₹1,575.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate the price after a discount?
Multiply the original price by the discount percentage and divide by 100 to get your savings, then subtract that from the original price. This calculator does it automatically and can also add GST.
How do I find the discount percentage from two prices?
Subtract the sale price from the original price, divide by the original price, and multiply by 100. Use the second calculator on this page and enter both prices.
Can it include GST or tax?
Yes. Enter a GST or tax percentage in the optional field and it will be added to the discounted price to show the final amount you pay.
Does it work for any currency?
Yes. The calculator only works with numbers, so the results apply to any currency — the ₹ symbol is just for display.
