How marks percentage is calculated
Your percentage is the total marks you obtained divided by the total maximum marks, multiplied by 100: Percentage = (marks obtained ÷ maximum marks) × 100. Adding subjects with different maximums is handled correctly, because the totals are summed before dividing — which a simple average of per-subject percentages would get wrong.
Example
If you scored 85, 72, 68, 91, and 77 in five subjects each out of 100, your total is 393 out of 500. Percentage = (393 ÷ 500) × 100 = 78.6%, which falls in the Distinction band.

- Distinction: 75% and above
- First Division: 60% – 74.9%
- Second Division: 50% – 59.9%
