The Attendance Percentage Calculator works out your current attendance and tells you exactly where you stand against your college’s requirement. Enter how many classes you’ve attended and how many have been held, set the required percentage (usually 75%), and it shows your attendance percentage along with practical advice.
If you’re above the requirement, it tells you how many classes you can safely miss. If you’re below, it tells you how many you must attend in a row to get back on track. Everything runs in your browser — nothing you enter is stored.
How to calculate your attendance percentage
- Enter the number of classes you have attended.
- Enter the total number of classes held so far.
- Set the required attendance percentage — most colleges use 75%.
- Read your current percentage and how many classes you can skip or need to attend.
How attendance percentage is calculated
Your attendance percentage is simply classes attended divided by total classes held, times 100. So if you have attended 72 of 90 classes, that’s 72 ÷ 90 × 100 = 80%.
To work out how many classes you can miss and stay at the requirement, the calculator keeps your attended count fixed and increases the total until the percentage would drop below the limit. To work out how many you must attend, it adds classes to both attended and total until you cross back above the requirement.
Why 75% attendance matters
- Most Indian colleges and universities require a minimum of 75% attendance to sit exams.
- Falling below the limit can mean a fine, being detained, or being barred from an exam.
- Medical and approved leaves are sometimes counted separately — check your institution’s rules.
- It’s safest to keep a small buffer above the minimum rather than cutting it fine.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate my attendance percentage?
Divide the number of classes you attended by the total classes held and multiply by 100. For example, 72 attended out of 90 held is 80%. This calculator does it for you and adds practical advice.
How many classes can I miss and still have 75%?
It depends on how many classes have been held and how many you’ve attended so far. Enter your numbers and the calculator shows the maximum classes you can skip in a row while staying at or above 75%.
I’m below 75% — how many classes must I attend?
The calculator tells you the minimum number of classes you must attend in a row, with no more absences, to bring your percentage back up to the requirement.
Does medical leave count toward attendance?
Some institutions count approved medical or official leave separately or condone a shortfall, but rules vary. Check with your college — this calculator uses the simple attended-over-total percentage.
